A Bit About Me
Jonathan Jones is a two-time Super Bowl champion, Walter Payton Man of the Year nominee, Ed Block Courage Award recipient, and Art Mooney Sportsmanship Award honoree whose journey from undrafted free agent to respected NFL veteran embodies grit, grace, and purpose. Currently a cornerback for the Washington Commanders, Jones continues to distinguish himself not only on the field but also in boardrooms and communities across the country.

Born on September 20, 1993, in Carrollton, Georgia, Jones found his passion for athletics early, excelling in both football and track & field. A standout at Carrollton High School, he earned three individual state titles inthe 110-meter hurdles and long jump, was named Georgia Gatorade Track Athlete of the Year, and captured a national championship in hurdles at the USA Track and Field Junior Olympics. Off the field, he maintained a 3.8 GPA while volunteering at local soup kitchens and coaching youth.

Jones went on to become a four-year starter at Auburn University, where he earned back-to-back
second-team All-SEC honors and was awarded the Zeke Smith Award as the team’s Defensive Player of the Year. He graduated with a degree in Business Administration before signing with the New England Patriots in 2016 as an undrafted free agent. There, he played a pivotal role in the team’s success, leading the Patriots in tackles in Super Bowl LIII and helping secure two Super Bowl titles (LI, LIII) during three consecutive appearances.

In 2019, Jones launched the Jonathan Jones Next Step Foundation to educate youth on real-world skills, encourage professional development, and empower the next generation through mentorship and education. He deepened his impact in 2023 by establishing a charitable endowment to ensure long-term investment in the foundation’s work.

Beyond his on-field accomplishments, Jones is recognized as a thought leader. He has hosted fireside chats and engaged in dialogue with CEOs from Fortune 500 companies and global firms, including Waters Corporation and Institutional Investor, bridging the worlds of sports, business, and social impact.

When he’s not locking down receivers or flying planes—a personal passion—Jones enjoys spending quality time with his wife and children, continuing to live a life grounded in faith, family, and forward-thinking service.
